Art school is expensive and I understand your passion of art. I have that too. Stay with the engineering thing and do art as a hobby. Buy books of drawing and art at local bookstores and be your OWN teacher at no cost. After all, authors and illustrators just get extra money for writing and drawing. Why not you? Believe it or not, you're really quite lucky. Hope this helps.

Put your love for math, artwork and engineering to use: study CGI or game design. That way nothing is wasted, and you can be quite creative.

Illustration is a hard field to make a living in. It's art house work, which can cap expression and the work can be bland (can't get too expressive for business -- status quo work).

At least with CGI or game design you can put everything you learned all together, and it doesn't hurt the resume to have some engineering background in that field.

switch! you don't have to go to an art school to be an illustrator, look into a university with a visual communications department. and coming from an art major, do *not* try to do art as a part time schooling plan, it will not work, you have to have lots of time and commitment to succeed in art.
