Congrats! The first trimester of the first pregnancy is always nervewracking and full of "what-ifs". All you can do is try to relax, follow your doctor's care, take your prenatal vitamins, and do your best to follow a healthy lifestyle.
In a week or so, you will no longer be in danger of having a tubal (eptopic) pregnancy. The warning signs include cramping, spotting, sharp shoulder pain, dizziness, and cold sweats.
If you are young and healthy with no genetic factors for defects, your chances of a birth defect are low. Of course, no one knows for sure until the baby is born, but you will have a pretty sure idea of the health of your baby at the 20-week ultrasound.
5 weeks is right around when you will start to experience morning sickness, if you will be getting this symptom. Hopefully you wont because it SUCKS. The best thing you can do is bring some crackers and cold water to bed and eat and sip before you sit upright in the morning. These symptoms will go away for most people by the 2nd trimester.
There is really nothing I can tell you to put you at ease about miscarriages. The cruel truth about them is that if it occurs, the baby was not viable and there was nothing you could do to prevent it. Warning signs are heavy cramping, clotty or bright red spotting, dizziness, cold sweats. The chances for a miscarriage drop significantly when you get to the second trimester.
Take a deep breath, enjoy the little life growing inside you, and relax! Before you know it, that little one will be born and you will never relax again :-)

Congratulations! Okay, you'll probably feel fine for the next six weeks but will start to feel pretty tired, your boobs may hurt and you may get morning sickness (which can last all day long). Miscarriage happens about 20% of the time, and is more common in older mothers. If you do miscarry, it would most likely be before you're 8 weeks. And if you do miscarry, it's just your body working properly in discarding an embryo that didn't form correctly. Tubal pregnancies usually are very painful, so if you have severe one-sided pain get yourself to the emergency room right away. I hope all goes well for you! Enjoy this time in your life!

Congrats to you for starters! Calm down a tad secondly, you are going to see a doctor and ask him all these questions and he or she will answer all of them and even more...a few test will be done...they are standard for all pregancies. This is a time for you to enoy...how cute you have the new mommy syndrome. We all go through this emotional rollercoaster that you are experiencing right now. Your harmons are starting to flexurate up and down due to the pregancy and you will have many emotions to come forth. Your questions are so common and are best answered by your new GYN/OB. There are many books out there for first time mother and they are so informative. Some even have neat journals in them so you can write down what you are experiencing at that time and compare. Not one pregancy is the same, but they are all generally the same. Some get morning sickness early on, some later on and then some don't get it at all. There is always a risk to any thing in life and you have just been blessed with life. Go make your appointment, cause you have not seen the doctor, I can tell, cause you would not be on here asking these questions. The best thing you can do now is take care of baby and mommy as one. Then in eight to nine months from now, you can start writing in the baby book all these things you have done when you found out. You will look back and see what a wonderful mother you have been for caring enough to ask!

First off congratulations. There are alot of good books to read while you are pregnant. Most of them will give you week by week of what to expect. I really liked "What to Expect when your Expecting" and "The girlfriends guide to pregnancy" Your chances of miscarriage is about 1 in 5. Your doc will probably do a quick ultrasound to make sure all is well on your next visit. When they do that one it will probably be with this thing that looks like a giant dildo, no kidding. They will be able to tell if it is where it should be and not in the tube.

Well to start off you can go to www.whattoexpect.com, i highly recommend it. It tells you week-by-week what is going on with you and your baby with illustrations. It also talks about miscarrige and side effects of tubal pregnancy. You can see a doctor to assure you that everything is okay. The book What to Expect When You're Expecting is available at almost any store that has a book section. The website I listed earlier is the online form of the book. Good luck, and do check out the website!
