There are so many songs of revolution and half of those are Hip Hop. Hip Hop is by definition revolution music. Here are few I can think of:
Fight The Power and Blue Steel by Public enemy. It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Me Back is a great, great album.
Guerilla Radio, No Shelter and People of The Sun by Rage Against the Machine. For that matter any Rage song.
Dark Sun Riders was an overlooked group they had a great album and a revolution song called Time to Build.
X-Clan came around the beginning of the whole Black Pride movement in Hip Hop when they stopped wearing gold chains and started wearing Africa medalions. Before the whole Bling Bling stuff took over, but I digress. Their best song was Grand Verbalizer, What Time Is It.
Poor Righteous Teachers were very influential group for me. Check out their song "Pure Poverty" and my favorite "Shakiyla".
Freestyle Fellowship, Inner City Boundaries is a good song.
If you are tired of the bling bling in Hip Hop here are some artists to check out (in no particular order):
Mos Def
Tablib Kweli
Dilated Peoples
Outkast
Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
Beastie Boys
Nice and Smooth
Gangstarr
Jurassic 5
Souls of Mischief
The Pharcyde (Get this now!)
Common
Boogie Down Productions/KRS-ONE
I could go on and on, but don't forget the greatest revolution song of all:
GET UP, STAND UP!!!!!
By Bob Marley and The Wailers
