Karma is the same as "what goes around, comes around". If you are mean to someone, say you defame them to coworkers, eventually "your day will come" and something bad will happen to you tied directly to this wrong that you did.

Like the idea "you reap what you sow" without any forgiveness thrown in.You do good things you get a reward you do bad things you get a punishment.
You can't even think of getting away with anything. It's like a never-ending cycle-because most people are always doing something-good bad or indifferent.
It's like a big machine of supernatural cause and effect.
Some people believe that Pure Land Buddha created a world that is less conflicted where people can go to work out their karma.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karma
The Justice card suggests that my alter ego is a portal to a Reality Check, whose access to where truth lies is guarded by the superpower of my Karmic Credit/Debit Card. The verdict or results are in and I will get the payoff or payback I deserve today through the natural laws and cycles of accountability, reward, truth and consequences. But the "return on my investment" will diminish or intensify until I finally notice or reap the message sown loud and clear. Whichever way it comes in, at least it happens for a reason and keeps my life in balance. So today when it comes full circle, whatever the result, I accept that I will use it as an opportunity to either try again, make amends or make it right. Let it come around in its own time, keep my hands off the Wheel while this ride is in motion, or impose my brand and risk paying the price.

Its basically what goes around comes around, If you do good deeds and are a good person, good things will happen in your live, if your mean and negative, thats what you will get. The "payback" you get might not have anything to do with your deed directly but its kidna like theres someone out there keeping score.

it is another way of "cause and effect" - what ever u do will reflect on your future, bad or good. and only u are responsible for your own actions, others can only stand around and watch, cheer, feel sorry but cant take away the effect.
eg1. cause - u kill a person,
effect - jail
nobody can do times for you in jail

eg2. cause - having too much sweet candy
effect - bad toothache
your own teen can to be removed, not others

eg3 cause - helping someone in a wheel chair
effect - the person is grateful to you, not others

What goes around comes around. If you do something bad to someone then something bad will happen to you. simple as that. And, yes, it does work. I guess it works if you do something good for someone then it will also come back to you.
