You are probably referring to 'Target", "Chip Ganassi" cars. Chip Ganassi owns a couple NASCAR teams. They are both sponsored by TARGET stores.

target drivers are those drivers that are sellable and have the skills. in most cases they tend to be younger, but they are finding a new breed of target driver's in some of the old school boys.

basically, a driver serves two purposes. the first, is obviously to drive well and bring home results. the second is to be sellable. need a face/driver that the crowd will follow and love. the sponsers see it as a way to sell their product. (i/e dale jr and budweiser/wrangler) a team owner wants one who will bring the hype into the team. now, i say hype, but i do use that term loosely. basically, they want someone who is going to bring fans and stuff to the team.. not just someone who is a pretty face but can't drive..b/c bottom line still is driving for results

i think that's the question you were aksing for??

Target drivers are the more popular drivers that are near the end of their contracts and are prime targets for other teams to attempt to sign.

I think they're going after young, aggressive drivers. It's all about winning, and the older guys just don't have the "courage" it takes to win anymore. They're more cautious.

it is younger guys such as 19-23 year olds so that they can sign them to long term contracts and own them for a long time especially if they start winning like Denny Hamlin
