Rock: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars
Gas: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. It is possible to go through the gas planets but they are too big and also contain toxic gases. We cannot land on gaseous planets.

Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are the rock planets. Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus are the planets made up of gases. There might be a small bit of rock making up their core but the majority of them is made of gas. believe Pluto is made of rock, too.

The inner 4 are rock and the outer 4 are gas. I think you would be torn apart by wind if you tried to land on a gas planet. It happened to one of our probes. I also think the gases get progressively thinker toward the core.

You wouldn't be able to "land" on the gas planets because there isn't a solid surface, but you wouldn't be able to go through it either, because it has a has a very high temperature and pressure.
The link below has a very good description of this.

Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are the terrestrial planets (rock) and the rest are jovian planets (gas).
Nobody's ever even set foot on Mars yet. Who knows if we can stand on the jovian planets.
