Go to "File / Add to library" or "File / Import" in iTunes and you will see whether the files you have can be imported into iTunes. If they're mpegs you won't have any problems. I think it can also import wav files.

What do you mean by 2 seperate accounts? We have 2 log-ins on our computer at home and have 2 seperate iTunes accounts, but share the music. You can also share music over a network (but that won't go onto your iPod, only shared in iTunes).
