Not making a big deal about it, due to you feel that you are really nobody important is not relevant here. Each person was put here on earth for a reason and is special for that reason. Personally, it should be all up to you on how you want to spend your birthday and not for others to pressure you into something big...if it is that important for them, then they should be doing something big for you...no puns intended. Now if it is ideas they are looking for...and you have none, then make a list of movies, games, foods and music that you like...write 3 places down to which would be appealing to you in each category, then place a number in front of each one starting with your least favorite (12) to your favorit (1)...this will narrow it down for you. Then decide on your top three or even better yet...do all your top three and have a grand time for once.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

A trip, something just for you with attractions you are interested in. A friend of mine did this every year for himself, just spoiled himself, but in positive ways like seeing a show, causally looking for specific types of collectibles (he collected Santas, no specific makers, just ones he fancied), treating himself to dinners, just enjoyed the time and the places he visited.

You don't have to go out to a bar to have fun with friends. Either have a party at your home or someone elses'. Be safe. But have fun!
For one of my birthdays I spent the evening at a karaoke chicken wings place with friends. We had a lot of fun!
