If you knew that it had no top, then yes.

But usually, you want to see the "final sale" before you actually purchase it. Look at your receipt. I would see if they informed you why the item was a final sale. You have the right to know that before purchasing an item. If they worded it "pieces missing", then they (by law) told you.

I think final sale means you are finished.. But then the fact remains, the goods delivered were incomplete. You deserve a complete product for the final sale. Did you know the book case was with no top before you bought it? If so, your stuck with it. If not you should get another book case. Usually final sale means something was no all the way right with the product, and they are lowering the price to get rid of it. So the store will not have to throw it away, but non the less they don't want it back.

Depends. If you bought it sight unseen then you took a risk.
If you saw it and there was a top when you bought it then you
are entitled to receive all of it. Contact the place where you
bought it and ask. If you can't get a straight answer contact a lawyer and find out your options.
