Have you tried turning the steering wheel?
My old toyota used to do that to me every now and again, usually turning the wheel a bit caused some mysterious mechanism to release the key.
(If you're locked out of your car, your options are to retrieve the spare key you keep in case of emergencies, break in, or pay someone to open the door.)

THat happens to me sometimes. Try turning the wheel. Also try hitting the steering wheel. I know that sounds silly, but it works!!
