There is a morning after pill. This pill is to be taken within 72 hours of having unprotected sex, or taken if the condom broke. The abortion pill is something different. This is taken within a certain amt of weeks when u are pregnant.

I want to amend an earlier submit.
The drug is believed to work principally by preventing your ovaries from releasing an egg, and by affecting the womb lining, so that a fertilised egg couldn’t ‘embed’ itself there.

One of the Branded names for the morning after pill or the 72 hour pill is Plan B. It is NOT an abortion pill. Note: RU-486 is the "abortion pill".

Plan B® is an emergency contraceptive that can still prevent a pregnancy after contraceptive failure or unprotected sex.

Plan B® should be taken within 3 days (72 hours) of unprotected sex and can reduce the risk of pregnancy by 89%. But the sooner you take it the more effective it will be.

Plan B® is not RU-486 (the abortion pill); it will not work if you are already pregnant.

Please go to the Plan B website for complete information. There is still an ongoing moral debate about making this drug available over the counter.

These are two different pills, frequently confused with each other but very different indeed.

The "Abortion Pill", RU-486, actually induces miscarriage in an existing pregnancy.

The "morning-after pill" is simply a mega-dose of birth control pills that prevents implantation. You can make your own morning after pill (carefully) if you have a prescription for regular birth control pills.

Depends who's talking!

Doctors = RU486 is an abortion pill taken to abort a pregnancy
Politicians = Plan B -morning after pill -birth control that could potentially stop an zygote from implanting
Teens = Plan B
Christians = any form of the birth control pill

RU486 has been dubbed the "morning after" pill because, if you use it within 72 hours after a suspected conception by forcing a menstruation cycle...flushing the uterus, and, anything that may be in it. The pill is intended to be used in case of emergency, to prevent a possibly fertilized egg from implanting and becoming a pregnancy. Whether actually 'aborts' a potential life is up to the individual person...many think it is the same as any other form of abortion.

The morning after pill is a set of two pills that you take after unprotected sex that causes a embryo to pass through the uterus instead of attaching and growing. This pill use to be used for rape victims but is now available over the counter. I dont agree with the sale of the pill over the counter i think you should still have to have a doctor order for it but that is just my opinion.

I think so. It's been tested and proven that the morning after pill can kill the baby. I suggest you don't take it though.

It is a pill that terminates your pregnancy.

It IS NOT birth control as stated by someone else. If women don't want to get pregnant then they should do something to prevent it before it happens. Murder is murder no matter how someone chooses to commit it.
