I have to give a short oral report on how to end terrorism and war very soon, and would like some opinions?

It needs to be short and to the point, but needs to speek of disarmament,peace education, and world court.... Please help

Especially when they run into the Borg. If we where all controlled by one person then we would be at peace. Is it worth the freedom for the peace. Some think so some do not. Another way is to just kill everything. There can't be war if there is nothing to go to war. Education is another way. Its hard educating people when it goes against what their religion preaches to them. Teaching tolerance is very important. Teaching of punishment to fit the crime. Many of the countries in the middle east treat less violent crimes as bad as violent ones. Teaching of morals. If we could all learn just a little from Socrates we would all be just a little better off.

Acctually as long as you give all the points you might be able to write your report as to conclude that war and terrorism will never completely go away that it is a part of human nature and cultural differances. Like disarmament is only on the surface the terrorist will find new ways to hide their weapons. and peace education will only reach people that are happy with what they are learning. And that the world court will be too diverse for everyone to agree.

I'm not sure if there is anything that CAN be done to end terrorism and bring about world peace.

You'd have to find way to convince people to give up both religion and greed. Terrorism and wars are invariably caused by either one or the other. And by convince I mean actually change their minds, no coercion involved.

But most people NEED to be believe in something. And in a material world where the finer things in life really do rock, its hard to get people to stop being greedy (plus its bad for the economy!)

So in short, the best answer is quite simple indeed - change the very nature of humanity. Good luck with that, by the way.

There are different types of terrorism. The kind we are currently fighting will never end with peace, education or a world court. The radical islamist have declared war on all nonbelievers. Al Qieda just in fact has declared war even on the French just today. This is going to be a long war. I will not convert, nor do I plan to die soon. Those are the choices.

They're kind of leading you to answer the way they want (educate everyone, get nations talking and working through differences, reduce weapon stockpiles, etc.). Those things are not wrong, but you might also think about financial incentives, religious differences, public information campaigns, and forcible or intellectual leadership by countries. Ask yourself: if someone insisted on sneaking up & hitting you and then ran away before you could do anything, how would you stop him in the long term. What is the underlying cause of his aggression.

Sometimes the best way to obtain peace is through violence. I think that right now the only way to achieve world peace would be to pull all of our troops out of the middle East, sign a peace treaty with all of the countries that we're having problems with, then, turn around and do a suprise attack and carpet bomb them until there is no life form left over there, then it would be very peaceful. I believe we need to get out of Iraq all together. We need to finish the job in Afghanistan and get out of there. We need to let it be known if terrorist try and hit us again, we will hit back hard and fast with a fury before unknown.
