[edit]
During the mission, Kakashi's teammate Rin was captured by enemy shinobi. Obito wanted to save her, but Kakashi said they had to focus on the mission, opting not to make the same mistake his father had. Though Kakashi believed that they had to complete their objective, Obito eventually convinced him that his father had done the right thing, causing Kakashi to join in on the rescue effort.

During their attempt to save Rin, Kakashi loses his left eye as a result of an enemy ninja's attack. To protect Kakashi, Obito manages to awaken his Sharingan, and kills Kakashi's assailant. Soon after saving Rin, Obito again saves Kakashi, pushing him out of the way of another enemy's rock-dislodging attack, but becomes crushed in the process. Shortly before he died, Obito had Rin (a medical ninja) implant his Sharingan eye in Kakashi's damaged eye socket as a gift, thus creating Copy Ninja Kakashi.

It is known that Kakashi became a jounin 13 years ago (from where the manga currently is), at age 16. At the time he was training under Konoha's future fourth Hokage, Yellow Flash. He was in a three man team with Uchiha Obito, whom he never got along very well because Obito never obeyed rules and regulations, and Rin. At the time, there was great turmoil between the great countries and Konoha was deeply involved in what was to be called: The Third Secret World War. All four ninja were involved in a sabotage mission during the war and went to Rock Country. During the mission, the future fourth had to separate from Kakashi and the rest, so Kakashi was given charge of Obito and Rin. Unfortunatly, Rin was captured by enemy ninjas and Obito went to rescue her without Kakashi who was still stuck up with his rules and regulations (he wanted to resume the mission without her). Obito had found Rin, but was about to be killed when Kakahi, who finally understood that teamwork and companionship was more important than rules, stepped in and injured the rock ninja. After some battle Kakashi injured his left eye and they were both about to be killed when he was helped by Obito who had his Sharingan awakened and killed the camouflaged enemy. The enemy's companion that was cornered used a Doton jutsu to make some rocks fall on Kakashi's team. Rin got out of the way but Kakashi was hit by a big rock on his blind side and fell to the ground, in an ultimate act of courage, Obito pushed Kakashi out of the way, therefore, saving him. Half crushed under the rocks, slowly dying, Obito's last gift to Kakashi was his Sharingan in his left eye, that was transplanted by Rin into Kakashi, making Kakashi what he is today, always being late and privileging teamwork to carry on Obito's legacy.

kakashi got the scar from getting slashed in the eye by some evil ninja. he got the sharingan from his buddy obito and his other buddy rin surgically put it in there. he covers it because he can't deactivate it like sasuke can. kakashi didn't originally have it in the first place. sasuke was born with it.

At the age of 13, Kakashi achieved Jonin status, mainly because of an ongoing war that required ninja more quickly than normal. As a reward for his accomplishment, he was assigned to lead his team on a sabotage mission to blow up a bridge in order to prevent Iwagakure forces from entering the Land of Grass, where the enemy could easily mount an attack on Konohagakure.

As his first act, Kakashi avenges Obito by killing the enemy ninja with his now-perfected One Thousand Birds technique.

Obito's death changes Kakashi, and Kakashi adopts many of Obito's traits. One such trait is Obito's concept of teamwork, which is most clearly seen in the way Kakashi tests newly-graduated students hoping to become a squad under him. He uses the bell test to test his students, which requires the three students to get the two bells he keeps on his person. Only those who get a bell get to pass, which would be difficult even with teamwork, as at least one ninja would fail regardless. However, the rule is only a ruse; the point of the test is to foster teamwork and teach the students that some rules need to be broken on occasion. Team 7 is the only team to have realized this and passed the test. Kakashi also inherits Obito's chronic lateness due to his frequent visits to Konoha's memorial site, which he visits for Obito's sake.

Yes, read Kakashi's Gaiden! A lot of your questions will be anwered. But think about it...how can Kakashi possess a bloodline limit that only exists in the Uchiha clan? Hmmm...

Kakashi got the sharingan eye from his friend Uchiha Obito. His scar was when he was younger he lost his eye the one with the scar from a battle. Then his friend was about to die he gave him the sharingan. And thanks to rin's jutsu it was able to reach kakashi ontime.
