how do i find the distance of a object without knowing the speed of it?

Shine a laser on it and measure how long it takes the light to reflect back to you. distance = velocity * time. The velocity is the speed of light. The time is how long it takes for the laser to return.

This is the same thing the police do to get your speed. they do it twice in a row to get 2 distances. then they take the difference in distances and divide by the time between their measurements to get your speed.

the formulae is v=d/t you need to have the speed and the time if you want to find the distance.
Do you have an acceleration to work with ?
you need another variable or you will go mad!

You compute directly the distance between point a and b.

ok the formula is r=d/t

r-rate
d-distance
t-time

and... wait so u dont have the speed? and youre looking for the distance... which means you only know the time then?

well... i dont htink that would be enought information...

so like if its a word problem type of thing,

youre probably going to need to draw diagrams and stuff....
