There actually isn't a system called windows XP 2000 - either it is Windows 2000 or Windwos XP (they are very different from each other) if you are trying to update Windows 2000 - you must first upgrade Windows 2000 to the most recent service pack requested by windows update (recommend Service Pack 4, version 2) which is avaible at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/default.mspx : if it Windows XP you must update it to service pack 2 to receive updates (follow the links via windows update)

Hi,
You can update your windows XP online by the following steps.
Option 1:
Click on "Start" then "Programs" then "Accessories" then "System Tools" then "Security Center"
"Turn On" Automatic Updates, which will automatically update your Windows XP.
Option 2:
Click on "Security Center"
"Turn On" Automatic Updates, which will automatically update your Windows XP.

Good question. You can either go to your start menu and look at the top for either "Windows Update" or "Microsoft Update" or go to http://update.microsoft.com. Either choose express or custom update. I recommend using custom update because I like to see exacly what updates are being installed. Also, Microsoft releases nice little apps that are pretty useful sometimes. You can't see these if you use express. Hope it helps.

In the control panel, click automatic updates on, and your system will always stay updated.
