The answer are:

1) 4 is the common difference
The formula is 10n + 2, so the 5th term would be 22

2) -3 is the common difference
The formula is 3n-8, so the 5th term would be 7

You can figure out 10th term by putting in 10.

an easy way to find these is to subract the second number in the series by the first. (ei, 10-6=4, or -2--5=3)

1, 4n+2 n=1,2,3... 10th term n=10 is 42

2. -5+3n n=0,1.2,3... 10th term when n=9 is 22

1) add 4 each time,, 10th =42, 4n-2

2)add 3 each time, 10th= 22, 3n-8
