band off? I pay a lot of money for the fair and I bought her a wrist band so she could ride all the rides all day long and she has a history of cutting it off before the day is through. is 12 too young to buy a wrist band for them?

Nothing at all personal is meant by this, but your daughter doesn't have enough respect for you. A child has to know that a parent's NO means exactly that. A good action to take would be to have a brief chat with your daughter and explain to her that if this writband comes off before you allow her to take it off, she will never again receive one. Now, that doesn't mean NEVER, but you have to stay true to your word and let al least one carnival pass without her being able to go. Hope this helps.

Haha- I had to read the question twice to see that it was about cutting her wrist band for unlimited rides off and NOT about cutting her wrists :-)
Let her take the natural consequences of her actions! If she cuts the band off, then no more rides for her (unless a carnie lets her in when she shows the cut-off band).
I used to slip out of mine because it wasn't "cool" (until I HAD to show it to get admission).... maybe you could make it loose on her wrist so she can slip in and out of it!!

Take away all sharp objects in the house away and don't give her money to buy sharp objects.

i don't know about the age 12....however...it sounds like she isn't ready for one.....i am assuming you're with her the whole time...
