Desk jobs and being stationary can do that. If you're eating a lot of fatty foods or don't have any way of burning off that fat, it's just going to get stored on your body.

A lot of people get that from not doing much of anything or doing exercises that strengthen their abs. It's stuff that people rarely think about during their teenage years.

During their 20s, they take it for granted. Then when they're at desk jobs with little or no movement, they continue to have the same amount of food intake and with less movement.

it isn't just for those particular jobs. the problem is all over the place. our bodies are not made to ingest the things we do or the amounts that we eat with out a significant amount of physical activity. we don't do what our ancestors did....farming or other tasks that burn lots of calories. most people tend to sit idle for hours a day doing things on a computer or something of the like. even i , who works 10 hours a day on my feet all day, do not get enough exercise to burn off my excess pounds.
