Karma will eventually catch up with her. What goes around comes around.

In this type of situation, you have two choices. Get another job or put up with it. She obviously has been acting this way a long time, and as you stated is in good with her boss, so she has no motivation to do anything else. If I were you, I would do a resume and cover letter and start looking for a job. (make sure you tell no one there, even a co-worker, these things always leak out) Do not wait til you are completely miserable there. Look now. If you are in a no win situation then make a change. No point in being unhappy 40 plus hours a week.

You (as an individual) will not be able to change her. No one else will either, from a practical standpoint. Your options, bluntly stated, are to find another place of employment with a more pleasant working environment, or try to block it out and just get by each day with your work.
It may lead to her own demise. But it may not too. In fact, it probably won't because her own boss doesn't choose to control her behavior or modify it in any way, so in effect the behavior is encouraged. That's not a good sign for you.

Bosses almost always suck. I've only met a few bosses who were nice. The people who become bosses either got handed the job through connections, or were so ruthless and cut-throat that they clawed their way to the top. I doubt her behaviour will lead to her demise. People like that always remember to look out for #1.

Perhaps she got her job flat on her back - and no, this behavior may never lead to her demise - sorry. If you want to, try to schedule early morning or late afternoon meetings with her, because then you can go "looking for her" at your boss's office.

Bosses are mean because that is the old guard. They were groom to screw up people. Don't expect any less from another job. Just try to cope with it and work hard to become a supervisor and from that point on try changing the world.
You will not change the world from where you are now.
Good luck.

She may not be a a people person, but at one time she was probably good at something, like supervising an operation. Once someone gets promoted, it's hard to demote them.

either learn to play politics , or become a victum of the politics.
going over your bosses head will only make things worst for yourself.
