Several suggestions: - Sinus rinse: It's different than saline drops because the solution actual goes up into your sinuses and flushes out the mucous that is up there. You can get the Sinus Rinse kit at most pharmacies. - Steam: Boil water and add in spices from your cabinet, like all spice, ginger, you can even add vicks. Put it all in a large bowl. Place your face over the bowl and then a towel over your head to keep the steam in. This is a GREAT way to clear sinuses and nasal congestion and is also great for your pores. Try it morning and night. Have a box of kleenex handy. Drink LOTS of water. I hope these help!

I've had Asthma and allergy problems since I was four years old. Mom said it started with a cold that kept getting worse and worse. My grandfather used to laugh at me when I would walk around with tissue up my nose. With some people nothing really works.
I finally figured out for me that sleeping in a half way sitting up half way lying down works best for me. Somehow my lungs would get full of congestion during the night while lying flat on my back. Sleeping in a sitting position is not an easy thing to do but you get used to it.
So, you may want to try this on your worst days only. It avoids head rushes, your lungs won't feel so heavy and your sinuses will probably drain faster.

Get a cool mist humidifier for your room. Run it all the time keeping your door closed if possible, especially while you sleep. Put it very near the head of your bed but not blowing directly on you.
KEEP it CLEAN. Just make sure to keep the filters changed according to instructions and use the proper bacteriostatic solution in it.
You can also get MINT (not mint flavored, but REAL mint) tea and make it with 2 tea bags. When you squeeze the tea bags just before the tea turns cool, breath deeply through the tea bags. It's guaranteed to open your sinuses!!!
That's what helped me.

There is a new NyQuil nighttime sinus headache pill. I love it. Really it's a God send. If you still have problems then take whatever works best for your sinuses and get your doc to hook you up with a free sample of Ambien the sleeping pill. The sample has five pills but its still helpful.

This would be a good question for a pharmacist. They are most familiar with medications, and oculd best advise you on what to take. They do help people with over the counter meds all the time, and are glad to make sure you are not taking any meds that it oculd interact with. Give your local drug store a call, or go up and there and ask in person.

Try Chlor-Trimeton. It's the only stuff you can take when you're pregnant, so maybe it'll be good for the night-time because it has no narcotic-type stuff in it. Good luck.
