Its a chemical change. A physical change is a change which does not change the type of matter. The reactions in your stomach break down the matter into other substances.

Is Digestion A Chemical Change

Digestion is definitely a chemical change. The Saliva and Bile break down food so your body can absorb them. The Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) in your stomach actually does very little for digestion, it merely kills of stuff that would kill us.

Fro the the physical change is rather negligible. It's a solid-liquid mush.

it's both physical and chemical. When you chew the food, you physically are breaking it down. When saliava, gastric juices and other chemicals break it down, it's chemical change.
