I've noticed this phenomena too. I'm not sure why it happens, but there is definitely something about the number 3... Maybe it's just shifting awareness - like when you learn something new and suddenly you can see it all around you, on the news, etc - it's just that because you didn't know what it was before (like the meaning of a word for example) you never noticed it, and now you know, it's in your radar.
When things happen in 3s I try and see if I can learn something from it, because I feel as though a higher power is trying to give me a hint.
And - if you're ever not sure what number to guess on a Trivial Pursuit question - try '3' - because that's the right answer. It happens all the time.

3 is the perfect number in religion and everything as well as the number 7. In Catholism when you pray you In the name of the Father #1, and of the Son # 2, and of the Holy Spirit # 3. Every religon has the three in some way.In spiritual ways the three is used, as well in everyday.Three musketeers, Harry Potters Golden Trio, Past Present, and Future. The Three Stooges , 3 doors down, " Now, on the count of three, everybody pull" It is all universal and I basically respect it because of my religion. But logically I would say "Assuming the counter is proceeding at a uniform rate, the first two counts are necessary to establish the rate, but then everyone can predict when "three" will come based on "one" and "two"; this is likely why three is used instead of some other number." So good Luck!!

3 is like the perfect number, same as 7. there are many things that has the number 3 in them are are considered to be good things. Such as the 3 musketeers, the holy trinity. a triangle has 3 sides and breaking this triangle is considered bad luck (like walking under the ladder).

It stems from the Old Ways n days. Back when Paganism was the norm. 3 is a cosmic number with many affiliations. Perhaps its the universe's way of making sure we r actually paying attention.....how many ppl think that once is a fluke, twice is a coincidence but that 3 times means something, its significant.?

Because thign sare easier to understand that there's a bunch of different examples, if it is just three examples. 1 will seem like it is a rare case, two seems like a coincidence, three symbolicaaly comes across as multiple points, wihtout havign to create a million different versions, just three.

Bad luck and good luck always seem to come in threes, I have absolutely no idea why it happens that way, I have to say that I never mind when its the good luck bit, but hate it when its bad luck.

You know I never thought about this but my answer would be crouched in religion. from the old to the new we have always used the number three to denote deity.
Which it is good or bad they come in threes.
There are three main Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
The Holy Trinity in Christian doctrine (or trinity in general), is God both as a single entity and as three entities: the Father, the Son and the Spirit. This is also known as Tripartite division.
The Three Wise Men visited Jesus after his birth
A devout Muslim tries to make a pilgrimage to all three holy cities in Islam: Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem
King Solomon states in Ecclesiastes 4:12: "A three-ply cord is not easily severed." Examples of this concept of three-ness in Judaism are:
The three Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
The three pilgrim festivals (Sheloshet HaRegalim): Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot
The three leaders of the Jewish nation during their 40 years of wandering in the desert: Moses, Aaron, and Miriam
The Tanakh is comprised of 3 sections: Torah, Nevi'im, and Ketuvim
There are 3 daily prayer services: Shacharit, Mincha, and Maariv
There are three divisions of Jews: Kohen, Levi, and Israel
Shimon Hatzaddik taught: "On three things the world stands: On Torah, on prayer, and on acts of kindness" (Pirkei Avoth 1:2). Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel taught: "The world continues to exist because of three things: justice, truth, and peace" (ibid. 1:18)
Hamantaschen, a filled cookie served on Purim, has 3 corners which represent the biblical Haman's ears or his pockets.
The three Theological virtues referred to 1 Corinthians 13.
In Roman Catholicism, two groups of martyrs, collectively known as Faith, Hope, and Charity (named after the Theological Virtues).
Heaven, Hell and Purgatory (or Limbo).
Wiccan Rule of Three
or suffering). It is therefore seen as a pragmatic reason for ethical behaviour and compliance with the Wiccan Rede. In other religions, it is comparable to karma and the golden rule.
The rule of three was first described in print in an article by Raymond Buckland (see timeline for law of return concepts), and does not appear in the traditional Book of Shadows. Some Wiccans do not hold it as a tenet, and feel that it is a modern innovation based on Christian morality.
One example of how the rule may be stated is as follows:
Ever mind the Rule of Three
Three times what thou givest returns to thee
This lesson well, thou must learn
Thee only gets what thou dost earn!
The poem, Rede of the Wiccae, was written by Lady Gwen Thompson, and is not part of traditional
Thrrefold Law
The Threefold Law takes the notion that "what we reap, we will sow", a few steps further..in fact, THREE steps further. For what we do "for good or for ill, shall be returned to us threefold." In light of this fact, Witches are loath to cause any harm, lest it be returned to them in spades!!
So as you can see there are plenty of reasons for things in threes!
