Just doing anything is better than just sitting in the house and vegging infront of the T.V. Going out these days is'nt cheap any way that you look at it. Gas prices going up and down every day, but it is better and healthier to be out then shut in. I like to go to the Library and read, use the internet, find social groups to join that don't cost. But EVERY THING COSTS MAN....

I agree, it does seem like a waste of time and money.
Im about to turn 35, and i have been divorced for 6 mos, and i feel stupid "going out" with my single friends....what is the fun in sitting in a club with the music so loud you cant talk, and paying $8 for a beer?
My buds tell me i wont find a chick sitting on the couch watching TV, but frankly I've never found one in a club, not one worth introducing to my family, anyway.

I like to go to the park and take walks when its nice out and I'm low on cash. Walking the malls and looking is always free and can even be fun if ur with friends. Spending time with friends is never time wasted in my opinion. Over all I'd have to say there's probably a ton of things to do with ur time it all depends on what you think is fun and how much thought and creativity you're willing to put into it.

GO TO BORDERS, OR BARNES & NOBLE AND PEOPLE-WATCH. GRAB A BOOK AND PRETEND TO READ IT. LOOK AT HOW PEOPLE INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER. FORGET YOUR OWN FEELINGS FOR A MINUTE AND WATCH PEOPLE. YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT HOW TRANSPARENT THEY ARE WHEN YOU ARE PAYNG ATTENTION.
YOU MIGHT EVEN STRIKE UP A CONVERSATION WITH SOMEONE, IN THE COFFEE-BAR AREA. CHAT ABOUT SOMETHING THEY ARE READING/STUDYING/PURCHASING, ETC. START MAKING UP STORIES ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE YOU TWO ARE WATCHING. IT'S REALLY FUN, AND YOU MIGHT MAKE A NEW FRIEND OR TWO.
OR, YOU COULD GO TO A GYM AND WORK OUT, AND DO THE SAME THINGS I ALREADY MENTIONED (BUT YOU WOULD BE PHYSICALLY DOING SOMETHING, TOO).
FREE, HUH? TAKE A NOTEBOOK AND GO TO THE PARK, AND WRITE A SONG (TO THE TUNE OF ANOTHER). DRAW A PICTURE.
TAKE A DIGITAL CAMERA AND GO OUT AND ASK PEOPLE IF YOU CAN TAKE THEIR PICTURE FOR YOUR COLLAGE YOU ARE WORKING ON CALLED "FACES IN THE CITY". GATHER A FEW EMAIL ADDRESSES AND SEND THEM A COPY OF THE PIC.
MAKE UP SURVEYS, AND GO GET PEOPLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. WRITE THEM DOWN. SAY IT'S FOR A STATISTICS CLASS.
GO OUT AND ASK PEOPLE WHAT THEIR FAVIROTE QUOTE IS, FOR YOUR BOOK OF WISDOM YOU ARE CREATING.
THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO THAT COSTS NOTHING. JUST GET CREATIVE....

If you enjoy hanging out. You should view it as if it calms you down and puts you in your comfort zone. It all depends on how you perceive yourself.
