On a poll taken by CTV (Canadian Television), 69% of people say that we should ban video games that show killing civilians but then 58% of people say that gun laws should be LESS strict than they presently are. Does that make sense??

People could prefer less strict gun laws because they like to hunt, or want to protect themselves and their families. Wanting looser gun laws doesn't atomatically mean people are also in support of violence.

Likewise, people who say that violent games should be banned don't necessarily feel that guns should be too. Violence in video games doesn't necessarily have anything to do with legally owning a firearm that you use to hunt, or protect your family with. Most people who go hunting would be disgusted by the thought of using their gun to kill a person.

Just because guns CAN be used for violence doesn't mean they always are, or people who have them will.

You're making a mistake about how these two questions link, and you're assuming that gun = violence, which isn't necessarily true. It's leading you to false and misleading conclusions about the sanity of this survey.

It makes plenty of sense. The killing and depiction of death in video games is fake. in many cases you shoot a video opponent and he simply falls over dead. In some games they fall over and then get up again. So the video games present avery simplistic and false representation of death by shooting. This false view makes it seem OK to just go out and shoot somebody in the head, because after all, half the time when you do that in a video game they get up again or are recharged by life force pellets or whatnot. In real life this is not what happens at all.

There is no connection at all between gun laws and video games, but maybe there should be. For example, any person who ever rented a violent video game should be denied the right to possess a firearm. The recent shootings in Montreal back up this idea. When unbalanced social deviates project video games into real life a tragedy occurs.
