Old terminology almost lost to dinosaurs like me. Traditional 4 Barrel carbs squirt fuel into two small primary bores to get the engine reved up but the Holley double pumper has four squirters and two accelerator diaphragms to use much more fuel rev up faster. Because compression spark Fuel+air = Horsepower

Listen to dodge man above, the "double pumper" is a dual feed carb with two fuel lines running to it. One on each side of the carb.

a 4 bbl carb has 4 jets that spray gas into the air stream.

when you are just putting around you are only using the two primary jets.

when you accelerate the other two jets kick in to give you more power.

a normal passenger car uses vaccum to open the other two.

a performance carb uses a mechanical linkage to open the secondary jets.
A double pumper means you have mechanical secondaries.
Or if it is really hard core, it means you are using all 4 jets all the time.
you want a vacuum secondary carb for the street.

it is simply a duel line feed carb,,it has two lines ,,one to feed each bowl on it,,there good for racing,,but not good for the street machines,,and horrible on gas mileage,,and they flood out easy,,other than that, there alright,if that's what you need to have,,i prefer a single line,,myself,,good luck i hope this help,s.
