First of all ladies, it is NOT rude. Anyone that anal is probably too miserable to be getting married anyway and why would they care.
Wear what you want...Black is very common to weddings in large metropolitian areas. Is it rude to wear a black cocktail dress to happy hour? Noooo...do people think you're at a wake? Noooooo....
If you're not comfortable, buy a pretty colored wrap to balance it out. Black is classic and a black cocktail dress is never wrong. If you're not comfortable with it, buy something else, but I've been in 6 too many weddings and I see black often and have never heard someone be so petty. People wore black to my wedding including my bridesmaids and they looked elegant and beautiful.

I honestly don't see the big deal about wearing black to a wedding. Black could be done in a chic and pretty way. It doesn't have to be about mourning. If you can make your black dress look fab with some great accessories then go for it.

As long as you are not the bride, wearing black to a wedding is not considered rude. Wearing black is professional and does not denote bad luck.

Black usually signifies mourning. I think the rules are changing though and more people are wearing black, but I still wouldn't wear black to a wedding.

If you wear black to a wedding, I think. but you should wear a pastel color like white, pink, or any other color thats bright. but if you wear black bottoms. yoou should wear a bright top. like pink or white. But dont wear everything black. the couple might get bad luck. And you dont want that!!

It is used to be true that black was considered inapropriate for a wedding but that no longer is true. White is absolutely not acceptable but black is fine. Have fun!

That's an old wives tale. If you really like the black dress go for it. It's better than wearing white!

Black is like a big no-no to weddings.... Black is really good for funerals..... You should wear a red or like a royal blue dress....
