I am a dancer and we were pink or white tights over or under the dress code or a soft color leotard but many dancers and my teachers sometimes wear black tights or tan/skin color tight Hair in a bun or nicly pulled back and ballet shoes (whatever color your dance teacher says to wear)And maybe even leg warmers or a nice ballet skirt and a cami depends on the teachers rules...........I hope I helped!:)

Okay, from the top...
...Usually (it depends on the company) you wear a leotard and tights. The tights are worn under the leotard, though I have known dancers to claim that wearing them over was more comfortable (the teacher didn't like it, however). Coloring of tights and/or leotard are usually specified by the company, although tights are USUALLY pink.
Knit shorts or sophies (other normal kinds are work too) are sometimes worn during lessons or just until warm-ups are over. Other companies do not allow this at all. Skirts can be worn if the dancer chooses to do so, but normal skirts are not appropriate for ballet. Usually the flowy kind sold in dance stores works well.
So far, I have not known anybody who wears leggings to ballet class (excpt for boys, who, thank gosh, do not usually wear leotards during class). I think you can in jazz/modern class, both of which are offered by some companies.
Well, as for cute ballet outfits, I have known some designs of leotards to be very flattering. Short shorts also add to the picture, but posture and technique are EVERYTHING to looking good in ballet.
Hope my answer satisfies your curiosity!! :)

Leggings that end after the knee (black or skin color) different colored tank tops or a sweater in the winter over a black/white/skin colored leotard. I sometimes wear white or skin colored tights and different colored leg warmers too....my hair is down to my waist so I always have it up in a tight bun, and ballet shoes of course. My studio doesn't have a dress code, we can wear shorts and a tank top if we want. Except for costumes at the recitals!

My dance teacher is very flexible, just hair in a bun, leotard with tights under. I usually go for the nice camisoles with fancy backs if I want cute, but while dancing you can't really focus on whether you look cute or not.

In my ballet class we had to wear pink tights and black leotard, pink pallet slippers and our hair in a bun. I like wearing the tights under the leotard but I've seen it over too.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with green leotard and pink tights. Sometimes, I wear a purple hip alignment belt ( I know- it sounds bad but looks fine)...and that's about it. lol

For class:
black leo over pink tights, pink shoes hair in bun (it's the dress code)
For Rehearsal:
colored leo over pink tights and any combination of the following: black legwarmers, grey or pink sweat pants, little black shorts, black skirt, t-shirt, sweater, company sweat shirt, warm-up sweater,
with my pointes, flats, jazz shoes, or character shoes, depending on what I'm rehearsing
We don't really care what we look like, we are around each other so much it's not worth it to try to look nice.

well most ppl wear their tights under their leotard, as I do. my studio requires us to wear light pink tights and a solid black leotard. i try to find black leotards that have a unique design or texture to them. i try 2 make myself look cuter by always putting something cute around my bun (which we also are required to wear) i usally put cute ribbion or something sparkly!
