I have a new computer thats currently using a 40gig WDC drive. I've tried 3 new HDD. None have worked except this 40 gig one. The first one would even turn on i didn't even feel the disk turning. The 2nd one blew up on me and the third one i feel it get hot but its not spinning. with the third one i get something called nvidia boot check then it takes me to a black screen. All of the drives are WDC and only a 40 gig is working please help. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-SLI.

I'm using a 40 gig right now on the comp and working fine. The new hard drive i get like nvidia boot agent check fail ENTER BOOT DISK NOW... and all the power is fine i'm not sure whats wrong

make sure you have one on master and one on slave.... the hard drive is probably fine..... do some research as to how you want to connect it... as in.. what do you want to do with it? just store files?

Send the mobo to gigabyte for repair. There is a NVidia chip on the board that is probably BAD. It's looking for the MBR and it's not finding your O.S. Gigabytes are usually warrantied for 3 years. Contact them online to get your RMA.

My first line of troubleshooting would be the power supply. Id check another unused drive in another PC to see if it works. I'd also used new IDE cables. If you use a different power supply and different IDE cables and symptoms persist, then your Mo. Bo. is having some power management issues and needs some warrentee service.

Check out for the Jumper settings that every is fixed properly.

feels like a pandemic, attempt to place your fix disk and then start up it up. If no longer something happens then you ought to take it to a working laptop or computing device save the place they understand what they're doing.

If it;s a new drive it has to be formated first, right click on drive and click format
