If you've never read it, I thoroughly recommend Pride and Prejudice. It's much the easiest of the classics to read, it has a wonderful love story at the heart and lots of entertaining characters and sub-plots.

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.
Very powerful, edgy book.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
Emotional, biblically based, yet so not preachy love story.

A dragonfly in Amber, by Diana Gabaldon. she has made this into a whole enchanting series. it is fantastic! Romantic, historical with a few twists. Also, The memiors of Cleopatra By Margaret George. historical ,fascinating, romantic and more. For something totally different try anything from laurell k. hamillton! she rocks! if you like fairies try a caress of twillight if you like paranormals try guilty pleasures, its a little slow but book 2 and on are sooo steamy and fun!!

The Time Traveller's Wife. It is both a great love story and a "different" kinda book.

Anything by Nora Roberts. I also like Stephanie Laurens, Julia Quinn and Johanna Lindsey, but they might be a bit much i suppose.
