Islam, like all the other major religions in the world (Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism) is an organized religion, not a cult. All these religions have one thing in common; and that is to do good and abstain from evil.

However, the followers of these religions interprete and many misinterprete the teachings of their religions to suit their own agenda. The contents of the Quran and the Bible are vague in many areas, opening the way for fanatics and extremists to form their own warped interpretations and forcing them on other people.

Why else do you have 'religious' Christians going around scaring the daylights out of people who refuse to embrace the faith by condemning them to hell? The Muslim zealots too are guilty of this, hell to all infidels. In reality, there is NO coercion in any religion! But such is the case now, and I am not surprised there are more than 1 billion non believers / atheists today, with the number growing steadily.

In conclusion, please do not stigmatize any religion as evil, for that is so very wrong. Men are the evil ones, and they can be from any faiths or beliefs. Do the right thing and tell your kids not to be prejudicial against any religion or race.

Why did you tell your kids Islam is an evil cult? You must have been raised by an evil cult.
Why not try to tell your kids the TRUTH? I know it sounds like a wacky idea but maybee when your kids grow older they might still trust their parents...

Muslims believe that God revealed his direct word for humanity to Muhammad (c. 570– July 6, 632) through the angel Gabriel and earlier prophets, including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last prophet, based on the Qur'anic phrase "Seal of the Prophets" and sayings of the prophet of Islam himself, and that his teachings for humanity will last until the Day of the Resurrection. Muslims assert that the main written record of revelation to humanity is the Qur'an, which is flawless, immutable, and which Muslims believe is the final revelation of God to humanity.

Muslims hold that Islam is the same belief as that of all the messengers sent by God to humanity since Adam, with the Qur'an, the text used by all sects of the Muslim faith, codifying the final revelation of God. Islamic texts depict Judaism and Christianity as prophetic successor traditions to the teachings of Abraham. The Qur'an calls Jews and Christians "People of the Book", and distinguishes them from "Polytheists". However, Muslims believe that some people have distorted the word of God by deliberately altering words in meaning, form and placement in their respective holy texts, such as Jews changing the Torah and Christians the Injeel. This perceived distortion is known as tahrif, or tabdīl, meaning "alteration, substitution".

Your kids probably know more than you do.

All religions can be thought of as evil cults by someone and harmless nonsense by others. They are just beliefs that cannot be proven or verified.

Tell your kids the truth. That no one can prove a belief and that no belief can honestly claim to be true.

for the record, islam is not a cult, it's a religion... also, islam is not evil... it's their leaders misinterpretation of what the Koran says that's evil. these are the rotten apples within the basket. like christians, some have been brought up in the bible's teaching only to falter on the lessons imparted in the bible itself. making our children believe of our interpretation of what we conceive should than be taken into moderation. never lead them into such comprehension, else, they would learn to hate their fellowmen who follows such a religion. i've got moslems friends and they themselves hate what other moslems do. but their leaders blind these followers with words and with logic that's atrocious ideally..

do believe that not all moslems are terrorists. it's some of their followers misconceptions that should be deemed as evil but not all of them...

I am not Muslim but I can answer this. Islam is not an evil cult. Terrorists are extremists who take the Koran and use it for their own means. They can exist for just about any religion.

All rumors about Islam and culture aren't true. The only reason why people say things like that is because they don't understand the entire culture and questions it.
