easy, your finger acts as a lever that helps to propell the ball forward. the longer your finger, the bigger the lever and the further the ball will fly. sorry, no links, i just had a little think about that meself...

depends on how you throw it. Like a fast ball in baseball the ball will stay in contact with a longer finger for a longer time and impart more spin. if you throw it like a knuckleball then it won't matter
