It is an expression.... It means in the ordinary sceme of things, no matter where you physically dwell, what matters most is the people you love and that love you in return. It doesn't make (all) homeless people frauds. It just makes them people that for one reason or another, found themselves in a bad situation and are struggling a lot harder than you or I to make from day to day.

I saw a homeless man sitting on the curb, right where the opening was for the water to drain into the storm sewer. He was right outside of the U.S. Supreme Court. The expression "mute testimony" immediately flashed into my mind. He was no fraud.

No you heartless b*stard. How lucky you are to clearly never to have been in a situation in your life where you have had literally no where to go and no one to help you. Do you have any idea just how difficult it is for someone without a roof over their head to survive day to day? They feel just as much as you and would obviously prefer not to be homeless. Hope you feel suitably guilty now for asking such a crass question.

fraud is too strong word to use. They are not heartless but probably they are victim of wrong choices in life. You can't equate shelter to a character of a person. Going by your argument should we say that the richest people in the world are big hearted saints. Wrong!...time and again we have seen devil in them as well.

Maybe i'm wrong, but i thought the expression was':Home is where the hearth is'.In days gone by families used to gather around the fire-place (hearth)for warmth & chatter, etc. It was the meeting point for families & friends. If i'm wrong.i'm sure there are plenty of nice people here to put me right. In any case, please have some respect for the homeless, one day,it could be you.

Seems to me that "homeless" people have the entire earth as their palatial estate. So if home is where the heart is, don't they have a better grasp on life than most of us "normal" people?

Most homeless people are too busy scrounging to get their next meal to be concerned with trendy expressions and their underlying implications.
The rest of the homeless people are attempting to make that meal last.
