I have allergies and can only take tylenol. This is the thing. I have cramps that are awful during my menstral cycle. I went to my gyn and she says that she did not find anything out of the ordinary. It is so miserable. I cramp, run fever, have backaches, pelvic pain, and sometimes vomiting. As there anything that you can suggest that is not an NSAID ie advil, motrin, alleve, aspirin, I cannot take these. I need something that can alleviate this. I have migraines too. I am extremely emotional. I cry throw tantrums the works. I do not even sleep in the bed with my fiancee, I sleep on the couch. Please tell me anything that can help me out.

If you are not trying to conceive, talk to your doc about goin on the pill. Birth control pill lessens the symptoms of your period, when I was on it I never got cramps.

I think I can take a stab at this. Addressing the migraine's, it's actually very common for this to happen during menstration especially w/ the changes in hormone levels of estrogen. Have a serious conversation w/ your health care provider, as there are other treatments for menstral migraine's (Ergotamine, Sumatriptan's, etc.) that are not NSAIDS. usually the provider will recommend for most cases large doses of Ibuprofen like the previous lady said, but that is an NSAID. This could actually be the cause of your severe signs and symptoms during your menstral cycle and might prevent the other severe signs and symptoms. Usually, you only need to take the meds a couple days before your period. Another option is to talk to your doctor about oral or other contraceptive choices. These will better manage you periods, could decrease your side effects and even some can give you little to no period at all (check w/ health care provider as there are side effects to these types of drugs). Just be sure to tell the provider how serious you are and how it affects your life(and fiancee) during this time. Hope this helps....

Well, I looked it up and the only two types of OTC pain reliever meds are either acetaminophen (tylenol) or the NSAIDs. So, if tylenol doesn't work, I would definitely seek a second opinion. There are prescription pain relievers out there that can be taken as needed or once daily (low dosage) and they shouldn't give you any trouble. Try speaking with a different gynocologist at your women's clinic to save the hassle of having to switch clinics and avoid all that paper work! If you don't want to do that, try talking to a regular family practice doctor... I'm sure they would have some suggestions or even a pharmacist at a local drug store may have some ideas (for free!). Good luck!
