I have The Sims 2 and all the expension packs installed and it won't open so... I'm planning to uninstall them and install them again but I don't want to lose my memory. Is there anyway I could save the data I already have?

I play the sims and back it up frequently.

What you need to do is find the folder:
My Documents / EA Games / The Sims 2

Save everything there and subfolders. Burn to CD or put them into another folder somewhere else (like desktop).

After you install the game, just turn it on and poke around to be sure it's all good. Then drag your stored files back into My Documents again.

This way all your sims will still be there and their memories of friends and families. Everything including downloads of custom hair and skins will be there.

If you are having problems with hacks in your download folder, try putting everything back but do not put your download folder into the game until you can clean out the hacks.

Try using Windows Explorer - open the file folder where you installed Sims 2 - check for saved game files/folder may be in a data file also. If you find some, copy and paste them to a different folder like My Docs. Uninstall/ReInstall then transfer the copied files back to where you found them. Should be able to start where you left off
