I just came back from the Philippines on vacation to visit my family over there. I had a great time. The last time I went there was in 1st grade, and that was about 7 years ago, so I didn't remember a lot. But my question is:

Is Philippine Airlines better than using other asian airlines that connect at different countries? Because when I went, I used Philippine Airlines, but my cousins went on some other airline that connected in Taipei, then straight to Manila. It cost a little more, but is it better to explore different places?

Iam quite satisfied with Philippine Airlines, because of its direct flight to the US. Less time traveling, the better. I've been using Philippine Airlines eversince I started traveling but so far I didnt encounter any rude staff.

Connecting flights to other countries: You cant really explore those other countries coz' you'll be staying at the airport.

And yes, having it's own airport is really good, saves time!

This question depends on what you're looking for in your travel to the Philippines. If it's exploration, then I highly recommend taking another airline. You'll be faced with another country en route to Philippines, and the service will likely be superior to that of Philippine Airlines. However, if you're interested in getting to the Provincial areas of the Philippines, I would highly recommend using PAL, because you don't have to take a shuttle from the NAIA international terminal to the domestic terminal, which can sometimes be a commute close to 1 hour.

Philippine Airlines has the worst service, especially if you are Filipino. The flight attendants think that they are better than anyone on board. But in fact, they are just servers on a plane. Try Northwest and get a chance to see Japan. The best is Singapore Airlines, though expensive. Eva and Asiana are probably the cheapest. PAL is preferred by many because it flies straight to Manila without a stop over.

I agree with Soondalo, through my experiences flying Philippine air, they are'nt as friendly as other flight attendants from other carriers. They lack professionalism, for example, two of the flight attendants were complaining about how people on the flight was asking so many questions and huffed and puffed when people were slow to move out of their way. In all fairness, I dont believe all PAL attendants are rude just the ones that serviced my flights. Advantage to flying PAL is that its a direct flight to Manila which means no stopovers and less travel time. If your into hanging out at foreign countries airport such as Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, etc...by all means, take the cheaper route.

yeah,i agree on soondalo.they have the worst service ever esp if u r a filipino.i went to korea last year and i board flight 468 due to my moms advice that its cheap, but its gross!i was asking for a blanket since it is cold and i put my jacket on my luggage inside my bag which i put on the overhead compartment.they said no more available but when a korean ask for 3 blanket for her companion which is just across my seat, they had blanket for each of them!i immediately confront the staff and she just said she didnt know there is still some left!u can say discrimination among filipino is worst!that really made me decide never to take philippine airlines again.i usually board asiana airlines for international flights for they provide real comfort and care, they usually do their rounds once in a while to check if u need something no matter what ur race are.they also have individual monitors attached at the back of each seat for personal entertaiment and u can choose what channel to watch.i also like thai airways and singapore airlines though i just fly them once.if u r thinking of stop overs, its really tiring coz u have to board another plane again and u can get lost esp if u dont know the stop over port well.

Personally I dont like going on a trip internationally with Philippine Airlines I prefer Singapore Airlines. But, when im travelling domestically here in the Philippines, I take (PAL), its just an hour flight or so. So, no need for extra pampering and comfortability. And oh yeah, the food sucks.

Yes, depends on the season..as for the services, there are times that it would be bad and there are times it would be pleasant depends on the flight attendants services. as far it is not only the PAL that show lack of attention to customers needs. The worst is some would only look at you trying to put your luggages in a cabin without even giving a hand when it becomes so high to reach..so would be lucky if there are men around your seat that is willing to help you get over with your carry on baggage to put in a cabin.. I just admire some dedicated flight attendants who have a heart to realize that most passengers are in a connecting flight and they sometimes get exhausted and having their needs meet would really help the stress out of travelling.. Well, as for the schedules of the flight maybe some of them would really want to finish their jobs and be prepared for the landing soon and taking much trouble about the whining costumers is not their problems. It is nice to see when we see them relaxed and smiling than looking at their faces like I had to get this job done... We love to see flight attendants that are happy and willing to take their jobs seriously.
GO FOR IT!. if you don't travel frequently and see the changes everytime you get on board. PAL is a thumbs up for me.. cause I have traveled another flights using another carriers and they have different services to offer.Your cousin recommendation is worth a try.....

take Malaysian Airlines. Since it's going to be a long trip might as well make the most of it, Malaysian makes you look forward to mealtimes! Emirates is good too because they have great in flight entertainment. Other good airlines: JAL, Singapore Airlines, and Cathay Pacific.

we only fly philippine airlines if they offer business class on a buy -one take-one basis. would come out quite cheap for a business class. but if you compare philippine airlines economy with other asian airlines economy, philippines would come out last. the staff are extremely friendly and helpful but you also get the same treatment with other asian airlines like cathay pacific. philippine airlines planes are comparatively old and needs to be replaced. much is needed to improve the inflight entertainment and amenities of pal. although with other asian airlines will require stopover in their home country, you don't get to see much but stay in their transit lounge.

Philippine Airlines is good because of its non-stop flight to US. I feel it is more convenient to travel via PAL because of the exclusivity of the airport used. Less crowded and chaotic.
And if you know how to speak up and demand for the service you deserve, you'll be fine.
