I know that Grover Washington and John Coltrane are really good. Do you know of any other musicans that are awesome jazz saxophonists? I am an amatuer sax player (mostly tenor sax) and I am looking for recordings of some of the masters playing jazz. If you know of John Coultrane or Grover Washington, what songs should I look up by them?

if ur a beginner in saxophones, it's a good idea to listen to Lester Young. other tenorsax greats for me are Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Branford Marsalis, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz. the more modern ones are Joshua Redman, Michael Brecker

(Rashsaan) Roland Kirk was a total master of the sax. He was able to do his own form of circular breathing. He could put two saxes in his mouth and play two different songs at the same time. He was also blind. Because of all this he was considered, by many, to be a sideshow musician and never taken seriously. However, many also recognize him as a master.

Get the album The Inflated Tearhttp://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:sjdovwzqa9qk. It's his masterpiece. Listen to his song that's also called The Inflated Tear, than you will know.

PS-Kirk was the first musician who turned me onto jazz.

As far as what song for Coltrane- Try My Favorite Things from the Newport '63 album and prepare to be blown away.

The answer just below my answer are great suggestions, Joe Henderson is one of my top favorites, try the Mode For Joe album.
