We don't seem to have made enough progress in Iraq or Afganistan. In many ways both countries appear more dangerous. The minds and the hearts of the people in those countries are not very supportative to American policies. I suppose that both countries will eventually have civil wars, political unrest and then end up as Taliban or Islamic Fundamentalists countries. Can anything be done to stop this from happening?

1. Because we are not targeting terrorists (for example, NONE of the hijackers or terrorists in 9/11, World Trade Center 1990, or the Oklahoma bombing, were in the country illegally.

2. We cannot find the terrorists we are really looking for, so we make wars in other places under the guise of a war on terror.

3. By targeting non-terrorists and non-terrorist states, we offend former allies, or ambivilent people, who then unite against us as aggressors.

4. We have snubbed our former allies (we know all, truth be damned) and our attitude has resulted in political isolation.

5. Bush seems to have "used" terrorism for political gain to increase the power of the presidency (claiming the right to violate laws and even the constitution in the name of security), resulting in a lack of trust, even among his own [ppeople.

Because:

1) We are being to soft and hesitant about pursuing it.

2) The Bush administration has done a poor job of educating the American public on the reasons and needs for the war, and on the strategy that we are using.

3) The American people have grown soft and vulnerable since the WW2 generation. We have gone from the Greatest Generation then to the Worst Generation now. So we no longer, as a population, have the heart, the will, the fortitude, or the guts to go out and overcome adversity.

Obviously Bush and his company did not do their homework before invading Iraq. Prior to US invasion, there was no a comprehensive, detailed and workable plan for unifying and reconstructing Iraq. Bush's moronic attitude was "Oh well, we go with the flow". Bush is still relying on our troops to reconstruct the damages in Iraq and fixing some issues. This is not their jobs. The invasion of Iraq appeared to most Iraqis as "Occupation". Consequently, they did not want to feel they are occupied or invaded by others (as colonists). And let's be honest now; initial invasion has been swept away by the abusive treatment of detainees, the slaughtering of civilians, and the systematic destruction of Iraqi society. Also, Bush can't keep playing favorites, Yes I understand that Shiite groups are majority (about 75%), but he should learn how to please Sunnis as well. Bush must understand that we can't force every country to be democratic, unless they are ready for it. Obviously Iraq and Afghanistan are not yet ready to be democratic nations. Please Mr. Bush forget this notion for now. Islamic beliefs among various sects of Iraqis is extremely essential. Iraqis for more than a thousand year are willing to kill and to destroy anything stands in front of their theocratic ideology. Bush gave Iraqis this freedom without anticipating the backfiring outcome. The list goes on.

History tells us, the NOrth Vietnamese Govt was close to collapsing, then a remarkable thing started to happen. The left
wing started protesting, rioting. This gave NVA hope if they could
hold out they new they would win. This is a fact from a book written.

The same is true of Iraq, the terrorists grow bolder and are filled with hope every time JK or murtha, or anyone else wants to cut and run. DOES NO ONE REALIZE OR BELIEVE its better to fight them there, than in the city streets of America.

Anyone seen the movie Invasion USA, that is not too far fetched.
There are thousands in the U.S. right now just waiting.

We are fiailing in Iraq and Afghanistan because were trying to change these peoples lives in a matter of months. We are trying to make mortal enemies work together. However, what the bush administration does not understand is that culture comes first in most governments. We are trying to impose our culture and belifs in a place where people believe just the opposite. The only solution is to give these people their countries back, because we can not change the hearts and minds of others.

Well after Clinton failed to kill Osama (who had been planning 9/11 before bush) and almost caught the 9/11 on his term it should be said he failed. Clinton also imported a horde of muslims from all over to fill cities such as Minneapolis, we now have a large MUSLIM population who no doubt feel alienated from the foster country and will plan malicious things in the near future. Since Bush however we now fight the towlies in their birth place not on our planes and not in delivery vans under large buildings. Yeah the Iraq war sucks but it's better than having a insolant people insulting us and plotting out every day invasion attacks.

It depends on what you consider a success. We were attacked 1 time since Bush took office and haven't been attacked since. I think this is a success, especially when you consider the policies of Bill Clinton and the seven terrorist attacks we suffered during those 8 years.
Afghanistan and Iraq have problems, but are alot safer now than before.

Because this war wasn't designed to end. It's a creation of the same people that profit from it. Your more likely to get killed by a shark than a terrorist and yet they got us to give billions of dollar to fight a war of aggression over there rather than secure our own borders and take care of our problems at home.

Bush was wrong to take us to war based on a lie, he was wrong to occupy Iraq. The Iraqi people will never accept a puppet government in the image of George Bush. I think it is to late for Iraq as they are already involved in a civil war.
