I don't buy the boilerplate answer that there have always been religious wars. I want a specific war, time, people, place and exactly what they fought over. Also, was there any resolution? I know that religion divides people but the wars I know about have been over something other than the content of faith.

The only "dogma" wars that come to mind are those that followed the Reformation and Counter-Reformation by the Protestant and Catholic Churches, respectively. However, there was a political component to these, as there was no separation of church and state. So each city-state had its own religion and an attack on that religion (from within) would be considered sedition.

The Crusades were a counter response to the the attacks of the Seljuk Turks who invaded Christian territories. Very little of it was "doctrinal" even if it was zealous and territorial. Any civilization would react the same way if they had the military power.

Believe it or not one was fought between early chistians over the belief in the Trinity. Coptics believe in only God the Father and God the Son, whereas most other main stream christians, including those of the first century AD believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Can you imagine how the Lord must have felt watching his people fight and kill each other over such a thing?

I think it may have been Gandi who once said "we love your Lord Jesus. It's you christians we find hard to take." Or words to that effect.

Go type in religious wars and you will find all the info that you want. But I have a feeling about you and I think you believe that there is no such thing as a religious war.

How about the Crusades? They involved taking a long trip to Jerusalem to liberate it from the Muslims. Along the way the Crusaders killed every non-Christian they could find. is that religious dogma enough to convince you?
