You have the right to refuse any mail. To stop the letters at the Post Office officially you will need to give a signed letter to your Letter Carrier indicating exactly what is to be returned. Give the letter only to your regular Letter Carrier. Be careful. The wholesale return of mail is something for only an experienced Letter Carrier to handle.

While you have the right to refuse any letter, it will not stop the problem if these letters are not first class mail.

Refused bulk mail ends up being recycled by the USPS.

Only first class mail, (.39 or first class written in the indicia) actually is returned to sender. The exception to this rule is if the letters contain an endorsement somewhere on the envelope that contains the word "service". Those letters are handeled differently and the mailer is charged a fee.

Why don't you ask your local postmaster what to do?

The GOP does everything by the pocketbook Children can die with no health care, what the heck. If granny needs asthma medicine, she can work picking ice berg lettuce and if she dies, more money for us. Kids should go back to work in factories to learn a good work ethic. With a good work ethic, they won't need all of their fingers anyway. Mom and Pop places are closing all over the country, but so what? Big stores like the had in communist USSR are more efficient. The Post Office is the life blood of a lot of small towns. Hicks. If they don't want to move to the big city to work in Wal-Mart's warehouse, more money for us. America and American ideals have nothing to do with the GOP.

Tell the company you don't want any mail from them, or send them a change of address and give them a false address and the letters they send out will either be returned to them or end up in the dead letter office.

Why don't you call up the company and tell them to stop sending you stuff? Most companies get your name and address off of a mail-order list thing and you end up getting pointless mail that you'll never use. I started getting tons of Capital One's stuff in the mail, I just haven't figured out if it would be worth the effort to call yet or not lol.

Fibreglasscar has it correct. You have the simple option to REFUSE to accept anything which is mailed to you. Just mark them as REFUSED and put them back in the mailbox.

You could have a little fun with them, leave them unopened, write on some "moved", on others"return to sender", on yet some more"deceased", and stuff them back in the mailbox. If they are sending that many, though, wouldn't that be harassment?

Huh? This sounds odd and I am dubious. Hundreds a day?? That is doubtful. Contact the company and ask that your name be removed from their listngs.

Do not open. Mark each one REFUSED and leave it for the carrier to pick up. Eventually, the company will get the idea.
