I have tried all the available commerical cleaning products and the lime / stain is still here. Do you have any suggestions or tips for me as to how to get rid of the stubborn stains effectively?

AFTER you get your toilet clean by using the products mentioned, you can keep it clean with that new system "Good ol' Billy May" talks about on TV--the KABOOM system. It doesn't enter the tank at all so the cleaning crystals in the little canister (which leave a very "bleachy" smell when you flush) can not mess up the tank plumbing. We tried it when we noticed what looked like black mold forming in the bowl and rather than spend MY LIFE cleaning out a toilet every hour of the day, we thought we'd try it. It's a great product, we think.

Before too long you'll be "flushed with pride" (sorry--couldn't resist!) at the sight of your sparkling clean bowl. Oddly satisfying.

Hope this helps.

See if you can get hold of Muriatic Acid. I usually buy this in local hardware store. I use this all the time, results are immediate as in seconds upon application. I usually have a clean bowl in about a minute or two.

First is to flush the toilet with a pail of water to drain all the water from the bowl then you apply muriatic acid. if you use the tank flush, water will just fill up the bowl and this defeats the purpose.

Muriatic acid is one of the most dangerous chemicals you can buy for home use. I put it into a small plastic container with a small hole so I can squirt it on the dirty surface of the toilet bowl.

Muriatic acid can damage most anything it touches, including clothing, metal, and skin! It emits a suffocating odor that can quickly burn the lining of the nose, throat and even the lungs. So make sure you have good ventilation or you can try to hold your breath if you don't have a gas mask. I even use it to clean bathroom tiles and grout. Always use gloves as it will burn your skin, it's acid. But don't be alarmed, it's not that bad, it won't burn you immediately, probably after 10 to 15 seconds, just wash with water.

Muriatic acid is sold in a standardized concentration of 31.45% acid and 68.55% inert ingredients, primarily water. This is the concentration you are going to find in your local hardware store.

Just use it directly on the toilet bowl. It will not harm the porcelain but will remove everything else. After that, make sure you flush with plenty of water to make sure it does not corrode your drain pipe.

Empty all the water out of our toilet.(turn off the water valve to the toilet only) and flush to remove water easily. Get a product called "The Works" (not the toilet bowl cleaner) line your toilet bowl with paper towels and soak them with the "Works". Let it set for about 20-30 minutes. Using gloves of course, remove the paper towels and scrub any stains left. Make sure you ventilate well. Depending in the thickness of the build-up, you may have to repeat the process.

You need to soak the offender overnight for several nights or during the day when you know there will be nobody needing it also for several days. You will also need lots of elbow grease because the next day, each day, you will need to brush it vigorously. I did this with just the usual toilet bowl cleaning product claiming to be good against limescale. No special products needed. Took me 3 consecutive days and all stains and limescale went.

Remove the water from the bowl. Mix up a paste of peroxide 10 % and cream of tartar. Paint the bowl with this. Let sit for an hour. Take a pumice stone and polish paste off, rinse, and refill with water. Put 5 dental tablets in ( tablets used for cleaninng dentures) leave overnight. Flush .. Put clorox tablet in back of toilet..This should do it.

The Works Toilet Bowl Cleaner. Just squirt on and brush. You can let it sit for 5 min but the longer you let it sit the vapors get pretty strong. I also drop in Clorox tab in tank. No brands don't work your wasting your money. Dollar stores sell both products for at least half the price.

I use toilet bowel cleaner like "the works" and a combo bleach ball in the tank. However I have heard rumors that a 2 liter of dark cola (like Coke) overnight will get rid of lime scale. I have never tried it.

I just bought a house that has very high levels of iron. my first load of white clothes turned orange. the toilet was very bad and i swear by "The Works" I use it for everything but it cleaned up the shower, toilet and all the sinks. You can even use it outside if you have rust stains on your vinyl siding. good luck to you.

i don't recommend using bleach in the toilet it is bad for the septic system even though it does work muratic acid is good but also can be dangerous if your not familiar with the product i do use the works with bleach and if you want it to stay clean clean it more than once a week
