I write poems because it makes me feel good. I get to turn all my emotions into something creative that other people can enjoy, or that they can feel a connection with. Every poet writes for a different reason, because every person is different. We all have different motivations for our behavior.

Because a poet is defined as someone who writes poems. The person who drives the big truck around and dumps your garbage is the trash collecter. Why do trash collecters dump trash? Because thats what a trash collector does.
Hope this helps!

To express their emotions.
It's kind of a ridiculous question-- why do poets write poems? why do birds fly? Why do artists paint?
It's what they're compelled to do.
