Some guy has been calling me every so often for about a year now and all he does is start screaming and yelling at me and I dont know why. My husband and I have both told him not to contact me anymore but he keeps doing it. Each time yelling. I want to somehow tap my cell so that i can get a restraining order against him. How can I do that

most newer phones come with a "record" option when you are in a phone call. depending on what kind of phone you have how to find it varies. on my old phone "lg the v" i think i had to go into the actual menu. i now have a razr v3 and i can choose it from the immediate menu.
trust me. i know it comes in handy. recently the father of my child threatened to kill me. boy did that tape come in handy when it came to notifying the police.
try recording it via your phone. if that doesn't work, i know radio shack sells a cell phone recorder that plugs into the headphone jack and at the other end you plug it into a hand recorder.
i hope this helps!
follow these steps:
1. before changing your number, or blocking the number, get a recording of him calling and harassing you.
2. have his number blocked via the phone company. DON'T CHANGE YOUR NUMBER!
3. if he continues to call...record it. make sure that you a recording of yourself telling him not to continue to harrass you (i.e. "you have been calling and harassing me for x amount of time now. you need to stop calling my phone and bothering me or further action will be taken."
4. if after that he continues to call...get a recording after that date that you told him to leave you alone...to prove to police that even though you have told him to stop harassing you, he won't stop.
5. notify police
6. after approval from the police department...change your number
7. i would not recommend getting a restraining order. because in order to write and serve the papers, they have to give the person the address at where you live. so unless you want him to start stalking you...i wouldn't see it as a wise choice. but before you change your number get a written police report.

i really hope this helped...and that this person stops harassing you. GOOD LUCK!

You want to "TAPE" your own cell phone? Do you have "record" option on yours? Mine does, it has "voice record" where I can record the call (use speakerphone).
Or the next time the perv calls, hold the phone (again, you need speakerphone) up to a recording device.
And why dont you know his tel #? Most cell phones nowadays show the incoming call #...Just BLOCK IT from your cell phone (call your provider) and if it's "anonymous", then have them block all anon calls.
And here's a thought....you better check with your local laws..in my state it is ILLEGAL (as in felony go to jail!) to tape someone without them knowing it, and you have to ANNOUNCE IT at the beginning of the call and they must have ACKNOWLEDGED that they heard you say "this call is being taped". Tricky.

The easiest way to deal with that is, if the person is calling from the same number, have the mobile provider block the incoming call. Even if the number shows on your phone as blocked your cell provider has that information and can assist.

What do you mean, 'tap your cell phone'? Can't you just get the phone to record whatever it receives?

If that's not possible, perhaps you could get some software to transmit to multiple targets at once and then record it elsewhere, although I don't know much about cell phones so I don't know if this is possible; it may be deliberately made impossible due to security reasons.

You need to call the police and the cell phone company.

go to your phone company and have the number blocked.... and if he calls from another number then go to the police and file harrassment charges.... you cannot legally record a conversation with another person... you must first notify them that you will be recording, and then notify them when you stop...

and even if you do that it may not be admissable in court

you can hook a speaker to it where the ear plug is and have a tape recorder ready and record him, or either go to your phone provider have them tell you where the call is coming from. Then id take the tape to the police.

First off, report it to the police, and tape it, too.

This guy is obviously psychotic, so if that doesn't work, switch the number, or better yet, block his number.. if you can.

if you use a phone with symbian os you can purchase and install a program to record the call such as this one:
