You've got quite a few depending on your fancy.
New Haven has Yale University and there's an Ikea store there now. ;-) Also in New Haven's Pepes, which has one of the oldest brick oven stoves in use.
Further east near New London and Mystic are Mystic Seaport and Mystic Acquarium and Mystic Village. Near there's the Groton Sub base. And of course, Mystic Pizza's near by there as well.
Further east and you've got two casinos, Foxwoods and another I can't remember offhand.
If you go up to Hartford, you've got the Mark Twain house.
In Bristol, you've got both ESPN HDQ and Lake Compounce, the longest continuously operated amusement park in the country.
That should give you a start!

Mystic, CT has a lot of popular spots, and beach front. A great aquarium too. Also, Yale University. Hartford is the big city in CT if people are looking for for good dining and clubs, etc.

I'm not sure what is considered famous, but Mystic, Ct is a pretty popular tourist spot.
