The concepts of strength & weakness only exist in the context of the relationship of at least 2 objects: the actor (the strong weightlifter) & the acted upon (the weights). Without the weights or some other kind of measurement, there is no way to assess the weightlifter's strength.
To further muck up the issue, if there was a whole room of olympic weightlifters, one of them would come out to be the strongest & one of them the weakest. So strength also only exists in the context of who or what is being compared. The strongest weightlifter might have the weakest stomach.
Everything depends on the context in which the values of strength & weakness are assigned. There is no stand-alone quality for either one, so the decision to change the label from stength to weakness comes from the same process of assigning.
The context is everything.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face? When it impacts on your relationships. eg. Independence is a wonderful thing unless it prevents you from making a partnership that would be more good than bad and you end up lonely. Outgoingness can become plain annoying. Standing up for yourself can be seen as defiance. Its all about how people percieve what one might call a strength.

A strength quite often becomes a weakness when one gives it more importance than one should.
Self confidence is one thing and arrogance is quite another.

I guess when you rely solely on that strength. Never to expand your repertoire. Being complacent--or predictable.

when you use it to do evil things or you are taken advantage of your strength.
example: you are good at talking. you can use it to do sales and earn money or con people into buying fake viagra. you are generous but people take advantage of it by not returning you the money they owe you

But you know like when a superhero uses powers for bad things.....
Or perhaps when you go to far with something... or perhaps when you do not go far enough..... I do not know....
