Wow i was reading some of the answers, and let me just say, some of you people should take an economics class, if you do that you wouldnt be so ignorant, as to think that the governemnt really has control over the ups and downs of gas prices...
Take an econ class, basic supply and demand, summer time is the highest demand for gas, thus prices go up, this summer there was other things to add to that, such as some refineries shutting down, basically there is many factors to why gas prices go up and down, and to blame or give credit to the gov't is just silly.

Yesterday I filled up for $2.22 a gallon. It's all politics. When elections and politicians begin, gas prices fall. Really strange isn't it? I don't understand it either. School has started and people are not vacationing and traveling so the need is less. When the need is higher, the prices are higher, why?

Do whatever you want, but a price drop is a good thing these days...no matter how modest. We were just on a road trip and paid less for gas this last week than we have in the last year.

Lucky the tax on it is so light, we pay £4 a gallon in the UK, 80% of that is tax.
Good thing we don't have to drive so far to get anywhere!

Its $2.23 down in Texas and yes it is political because the oil companies (mainly republicans) want the republicans to win so they are lowering the prices. Sounds like politics to me.

Nope, the'll go back up. Besides if more people start buying gas like crazy, then "supply and dempand" will give gas companies a reason to raise them.

It's down to $2.30 in my neighborhood, and people are saying it will drop much more significantly. One report I read said it will go down to $1.15. Just a couple months ago it was over $3.00.
I guess we can all thank George Bush. We all said he was responsible when it went up. I guess we can all agree he's responsible when it goes down too.

The falling prices are making the democrats scream in fits. They could care less if high prices hurt Americans as long as they can blame President Bush and use it to regain power.

And the Liberals say that we went to Iraq for oil. Makes prefect sense that the prices are high as they are right now.
