Just do the opposite operation to the number on the side that has the variable. If it's y+7 = 12, then do the opposite operation, which is subtraction, to the extra stuff on the side with the variable. So in this case, you subtract 7 from both sides to get y = 5. Same thing with the other operations:
y-7 = 12, add 7 to both sides to get y = 19
x/2 = 16, multiply both sides by 2 to get x = 32
2x = 16, divide both sides by 2 to get x = 8
Good luck!!

Try to learn from the basic....
+ become - and / become * if you want to move from left equation to right. Remember to move the + or - first before the / and *
For example ...
x-9 = 12 ; x = 12+9
x/5 = 12; x = 12*5
x-9 +x/5 =12; x+x/5 = 12+9; x(6/5) = 12+9; x = (12+9)*(5)/6

y=12-7
y=12+7
x=16(2)
x=4(5)
understanding now.. isolate the letters on one side of the = sign and the numbers on the other side. and when you move the numbers to the other side, use the opposite symbal so
multiplying=division
adding=subtracting
division=multiplying
subtraction=adding

all you have to do is balance the equations. For example, in the first case, subtract 7 from each side and you will get y = 5. Try the rest on your own

How are you going to pass any test in your life, if this is how you do your homework? You could have done all these problems in the amount of time it took to log on, write your question, and check the answer.
