1. You want to remove it from your computer?
Open window explorer, click on drive C:, then click on Program Files. On Program Files folder you'll see a folder something like Windows Messenger. Just select that folder and press Shift+Delete. So that will never drive you crazy when you turn your computer on.

2. You need the Messenger, but only doesn't want the automatic sign up upon windows start up. On windows messenger, you'll see something like, Option on tool section. You go there and find a sentence like 'Sign up automatically when windows starts'. Just uncheck it. That's it.

Good Luck.

First you need to find out what version of Windows you have. Do you have Windows XP Home Edition or Professional? If you don't know and don't know how to find out it's simple. Do the following:

1.) Right-click on "My Computer"

2.) Left-click on "Properties"

3.) A window labeled "System Properties" will appear. In that section that you see right now, it will say under the Hardware tab if it's Home or Professional.

Ok, now that you know what version of Windows you have, go to the site given below for additional details. I would copy and paste it all in here but it would be best to read it from the site as there won't be any possible way for me to make a mistake.

You have the box Checked that says sign on automatically, uncheck the box...

automatically is fine if you are the only user even though it may be a nuisance, but if multiple people are using the computer... you'll wanna uncheck it for privacy issues.

Goto the preferences and reconfigure the settings to not startup automatically.

Or

Uninstall the program Start > Control Panels>Add Remove Programs>Add/remove Windows Components.

Or

Start>Run>type in "msconfig"> startup tab> then uncheck msmsg
