(I meant "Best Answer", not "Best Question"... duh).

The responses so far have been very good. I wonder if she sees that the relationships on the show are bad or not. Maybe she thinks that's the way things SHOULD be. I'll ask her, but she gets defensive when asked Q's like that.

as her parent i think that you are the one that should make the ultimate decision. you should try watching the show and seeing if there is anything on there that you are truly uncomfortable with her knowing or seeing.

but here is my opinion. i was raised in a very open family. i was given exposure to things that maybe most kids my own age would have been a little immature or young for, but it made me more mature to be exposed to things in a controlled environment.

you have to think, she is almost a teenager and in a few years will be in high school and once she is there, you cant really shelter her from anything.

It's a good show that has relationships portratyed like happen in real life. It is a very realistic show and a 12 year old should be able to handle it. It also shows that a mom and daughter have a tight bond and it could be very inspiring for her to watch. There is nothing inappropriate about the show that I think would make her want to do things you don't want her too. It's one of the shows I watch that I think shows what life is really like.

I don't think it's inappropriate. I used to watch it with my mom when it first came on tv, though I was probably closer to 15 than 12. Twelve year-old girls are alot more mature these days than they were, say 10 years ago.

I think that she should. That is when I started watching it. My mom watched it with me and we found it a great time to bond and just spend time together! Gilmore Girls is a GREAT show and it has depth and meaning about life and love that your daughter would be lucky to learn about. :)
But of course, that is just your decision!

Yes, I don't think there will be any permanent damage, if any. It can teach her how not to be( in a relationship) , and can teach her about mistakes that hopefully she won't make later, and the type of guys she should stay away from.

I say yes it is fine. It is about relationships between mothers and daughters mostly. My husband can't stand it because it makes him "tired". There is constant talking and verbal sparring, but the writing is witty and touching and it makes me love and appreciate my own mother.
