I hear a noise in the right back side of my car when I push the brakes pedal down, I think the brakes pads tighten toward each other and cause the noise, I am pretty sure that the back tire is part of this noise, sice I hear something touching it while I am slowing down. I don't know the reason the reason for this and hopefull somebody can explain it here. What is the average cost to fix the problem? and is it dangerous to stay like this? Thanks!

Go get your brakes checked. You probably need new brake pads or brake shoes. When you hear noise, you need to get them checked soon - if you wait you'll damage your rotors or drums, which will make your brake work cost that much more. Eventually it will be quite dangerous if you're not able to stop.

Repair costs vary, but I'd expect to shell out 75 to 100 for it. Ask for an estimate at the shop before you authorize any work.

Do not put off brake repair. Cost rises when brakes wear down to metal and grind into the drums and rotors.

Almost all brake pads have wear sensors on them, when the pads are almost worn they squeek. When they need to be replaced immediately they grind.

Just remember replace one replace them all, and check the calipers and rotors for problems.

if it is a grinding noise you are in need of new pads, and if it is a screetching sound you are getting close to needing new pads
