It has made this country's populace unneccessarily fearful. The government has in turn capitalized on this fear, and has even encouraged it (yellow/orange alerts, etc.) for their own ends. Those ends would be to erode our civil liberties and break our solidairty in the name of "terrorism".

Our youth are now in Iraq dying in droves. Our military is so depleted at this point that I doubt we could even defend ourselves against invasion.

Gas prices have skyrocketed so that Bush and his buddies could make a bit more cash while he's in office.

The fundies have gotten so drunk on power that the state of Kansas (I believe--correct me if I'm wrong) has outlawed abortion clinics--overriding federal legislature.

Most of the rest of the world hates us--including the general populace of the UK who can't stand Tony Blair.

...not to mention all those poor people who died in the 9/11 attaccks and their families. This did not have to happen. It wasn't inevitable like those in power would like to have you believe.

P.S. I just read some of the answers...are all you people only concerned about the inconveniences at the airport??? Yes, that is a problem and a violation of rights---but there are so many other things to look at as well!!

Where do you start?! Travel isn't as simple as getting on the plane, bus, train as it once was; at least not without taking off your shoes before getting on board. We tend to look at anyone of race/ethnic background with a question running through our minds~Is this person LIKE the terrorists from 9/11?! IF a plane, train, bus crashes...our FIRST thought...TERRORISTS!! Not engine troubles...

Restricted air space seems to be spanning further than it did before.

Have we forgotten the terror that each of us felt on that September morning?! Whether we had family/friends in the towers or planes..they were "OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS"~not some poor family going through a crisis! It makes me as an American sick to think that some have decided to PRETEND this never happened and go about our daily lives...I had one question asked of myself...What if that was your husband/father/sister/mother/son or daughter killed in those attacks...and the American people turned their backs and hearts away...How would I feel??!!

That's one reason..this day...Sept 11, 2001 will forever be remembered in my home! Cause ...what if??
